Women: More Than Half of Society and a Fundamental Pillar in Its Development
As children, we were taught that women constitute half of society, but as we grew and gained a deeper understanding of life, we realized that they are much more than that. Women are the mothers who nurture and raise, the sisters who support, the wives who share, and the daughters who build the future. They are the homemakers, the teachers in schools, the doctors in hospitals, the nurses who tirelessly care for patients, the engineers innovating in their fields, the workers in factories, the researchers in laboratories, and the farmers who cultivate life.
However, Iraq’s history of wars, sanctions, and crises, along with the occupation of vast territories by ISIS and the resulting displacement and suffering, has marginalized women in many aspects of life. Traditional customs and societal norms have further contributed to their exclusion, whether within the family, in politics, institutions, or social structures. Many women face domestic violence, while others have suffered the loss of their providers, deprivation of education, and economic hardships, all of which have deeply impacted their psychological and social well-being. This has created an urgent need for their reintegration into society and for efforts to support their empowerment and independence.
Through Atyab Diyala Foundation for Public Services and Women’s Care, we are committed to standing by women, helping them develop their potential, improve their skills, and enhance their economic, social, and educational status. We strive to create opportunities for women to actively participate alongside men in all aspects of life, including education, politics, and the economy.
Join us in our volunteer programs and be part of the change in supporting, empowering, and reintegrating women into society.
